Hi, we’re Abby & Lanie Greenbaum, the sisters behind Wild Roots Events. Our roots run deep in Ohiopyle, a river town oasis tucked into the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania, and our work is inspired by the pace, beauty, and sense of gathering that this place naturally creates.

After several years living on the West Coast, Lanie returned home with her husband Jake and now reside in the mountains Jake grew up in with their two children, Meyer and Maeve. While she is a speech therapist by training, her passion expands toward creating intentional, experience-driven events that feel personal, grounded, and meaningful.

Abby has always called Ohiopyle home and has built her life around the local community she loves so much. Her background in collegiate hockey and years coaching youth hockey with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite instilled in her a deep appreciation for teamwork, energy, and bringing people together. Today, Abby runs Ohiopyle Coffee Roasters, a small-batch roastery dedicated to mountain-roasted coffees sourced from around the world. When she’s not at the roastery, you’ll likely find her outside with her dogs, Hattie and Dottie, or dreaming up new ways to create welcoming spaces for people to gather.

Together, we created Wild Roots Events as a reflection of what matters most to us: intentional gatherings, thoughtful details, and memory making rooted in place. Whether we’re styling an intimate elopement, planning a weekend itinerary in Ohiopyle, or bringing people together through food and shared experiences, our goal is always the same — to create celebrations that feel personal, relaxed, and deeply connected to the Laurel Highlands.
